Conclusion of the game

Victory of a player

A player wins the game when one of the following cases occurs:

  • The opponent's king is captured, even accidentally.
  • The opposing player resigns.
  • The opposing player exceeds the allotted time.

Draw

The game is a draw if one of the following cases occurs:

  • The player who has the move has no legal moves available, and their king is not in check (known as a "stalemate").
  • Neither player can checkmate the opponent with any series of legal moves.
  • The two players agree to a draw during the game.
  • If at least the last 50 consecutive moves of each player are made without any pawn moves or captures.
